Our city certainly lives up to the meaning of its name, which is made from
words that mean "beautiful mountain". Tree covered hills everywhere offer
a beautiful view of the Bay Area including San Francisco and Mt. Diablo
in the east bay. The city was settled in the 1800's with farmers, dairymen,
merchants and others. Today it is a city of about 26,000 residents.
Public schools are ranked as some of the best in the state. There are nine
public and parochial schools, and the high school is in the highest ranked
district in the county. There is also Notre Dame de Namur University, a
4-year, co-educational university.
The city is known because of its Art and Wine Festival each year in the
fall. In addition, it offers a wide range of community activities and classes
to suit all ages.
Commuting is easy from here. The city is located between highways 280 and
101 which provide access to all parts of the west bay. The San Mateo Bridge
provides access to the east bay. The CalTrans commuter train stops here
and connects points between San Francisco and San Jose. The SamTrans bus
system connects all parts of San Mateo county. The commuter train and bus
connect to BART, and BART connects to San Francisco International Airport,
as well as the penninsula, the city of San Francisco and the entire east
bay.
Properties here generally start above $500,000. Please contact us and we
would be happy to help you explore your options in our quiet community.
